Responsibilities

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist performs a variety of technical procedures, image acquisition, and the utilization of radionuclides for diagnosis and therapy of disease. Specific duties include:

  • Performing radionuclide procedures including organ imaging and function studies, assisting physicians with radioisotope therapies under safety protocols.
  • Selecting and operating Nuclear Medicine equipment.
  • Providing radiation protection for self and patients.
  • Preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Calibrating equipment and assaying radionuclides.
  • Inspecting radiopharmaceutical packages per regulations.
  • Maintaining records of radioisotope handling in compliance with regulations.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and contamination control.
  • Evaluating images using PACS.
  • Rotating assignments in Nuclear Cardiology and PET/CT.
  • Performing clerical duties related to patient studies.
  • Working scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends, and on-call as needed.
  • Greeting patients and communicating effectively, considering patient needs and cultural differences.
  • Adhering to organizational policies and standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Graduate of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficient with computers, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Preferred: Minimum of one year of Nuclear Medicine experience.
Licenses and Certifications
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certification or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Nuclear Medical Technologist License.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Physical Requirements
  • Lifting at least 25 lbs., pushing and pulling at least 50 lbs., standing for a minimum of 6 hours daily.
