Job summary

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist at Medical University of South Carolina supports physicians by preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. You will administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications to generate images and provide therapy as ordered, caring for pediatric through adult patients with professional judgment and empathy.

You will perform nuclear medicine testing (general and cardiac), prepare radiopharmaceuticals, and ensure radiation safety.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal two-year allied health AMA approved school or completion of formal nuclear medicine program.
• Must be a certified nuclear medicine technologist (CNMT) or registered technologist (RT(N)) with a B.S. or B.A. preferred.
• Should have acquired skills from CAHEA approved program and preferably, one- or two-years’ experience in a similar position.
• Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association is required.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians in diagnostic and/or therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures.
• Prepares patients and administers radiopharmaceuticals to obtain diagnostic images or provide therapy as ordered.
• Performs quality care for pediatric through adult patients with professional judgment and critical thinking.
