Under general supervision, performs imaging and dynamic function studies in order to aid physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. Education: Successful completion of an accredited program in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Licensures/Certifications: Maryland State licensure, Accreditation by the ARRT and or NMTCB. Maintain “Healthcare Provider” CPR course. Skills: Exhibits interpersonal and verbal communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and families, who may be under physical and/or emotional stress. Ability to process diagnostic images through computer manipulation and technique. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Accurately performs and processes all Nuclear Medicine Procedures offered at GBMC and successfully sends processed data to physicians for dictation. Accurately performs, processes and evaluates equipment Quality Control on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis per regulations. Refers equipment issues to the Clinical Coordinator or the Radiology Manager. Prepares, calculates, and injects radionuclides into patients for the appropriate study. Maintains records and/or technical notations on each case as required by regulatory agencies and assist physicians when necessary. Consults with referring physicians regarding orders and/or the medical history of the patient at the direction of the Clinical Coordinator. Performs a variety of related clerical tasks, such as retrieving radiographic films and records, filing films, answering phones, relaying messages, registering and scheduling patients and processing films as necessary. Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of work area and insures that the area is properly stocked and supplied for Nuclear Medicine procedures. Insures sterile package supplies and contrast material is not damaged or out-dated.
