Job Description

Overview

Under general supervision, performs diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures using radioisotope and radiation detection methods.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Executes clinical nuclear medicine procedures across all locations and patient types. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications for imaging. Processes data and enhances digital images. Provides images and data analysis to physicians. Selects appropriate technical factors based on individual patient needs and provides patient care accordingly.

  2. Applies knowledge of nuclear medicine principles, including anatomy, physiology, radiation safety, quality assurance, and patient care. Ensures safety and compliance in storage and handling of radiopharmaceuticals, adhering to regulatory standards.

  3. Documents patient care activities accurately in electronic health records.

  4. Maintains a safe work environment, manages supplies and inventory, reports equipment or environmental issues as needed.

  5. Participates in performance improvement initiatives, workflow enhancements, and staff training activities.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation with a certificate or advanced degree in radiation therapy or nuclear medicine from an accredited program recognized by USDE or CHEA.

Experience

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

Licensures/Certifications

  • Registered with ARRT (N) and/or CNMT.
  • Licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Maryland.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification.

Additional Education and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree.
  • Over 2 years of experience preferred.

Additional Licenses

  • Approval from MD Board to operate CT/Nuclear Medicine devices for attenuation correction and localization.
  • Licensed Radiographer in Maryland with NCT and/or PET certification.

Compensation:

Pay Range: $38.67 - $58.05 per hour.
