Position Summary:

Responsible for performing all aspects of patient exam activities of nuclear medicine at a technical level that will produce high quality images consistent with established policies and procedures, typically requiring general supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  1. Specializes in performing diagnostic studies in nuclear medicine imaging.
  2. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns to foster comfort and confidence, ensuring the needs of individual patients are met.
  3. Operates and maintains all assigned nuclear scanning imaging equipment to ensure proper functioning.
  4. Performs diagnostic studies, including measuring and preparing concentrations of radioactive isotopes, to obtain diagnostic information and capture the requested images.
  5. Properly identifies, prepares, and/or administers medications/substances within the technologist’s scope of practice as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  6. Completes quality assurance processes and practices radiation safety to reduce exposure to patients, staff, and self, complying with all relevant laws and standards.
  7. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in both paper and electronic formats.
  8. Maintains an adequate supply of all consumables needed for quality testing.
  9. Performs routine maintenance and function checks on imaging equipment following established protocols.
  10. May assist other radiology areas as assigned.
  11. Performs other related duties as required and directed.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Graduation from an AMA-approved school of nuclear medicine.
  • Registered in Nuclear Medicine with the ARRT or NMTCB.
  • Current BLS certification.
