Job summary

Trinity Health Livonia is seeking a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist to provide on-call, weekend and holiday coverage. You will perform nuclear medicine procedures, ensure quality control, and assist with venipuncture as needed by the department.

Typical responsibilities include calibrating imaging systems, operating SPECT equipment, and reviewing images with Radiologists while adhering to safety protocols. Collaboration with Radiology is essential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Registry through ARRT or NMTCB required or eligible.
• Hospital setting experience preferred.
• Experience with SPECT and Nuclear Cardiology desirable.
• Must complete certification process within 90 days if registry eligible.

Responsibilities

• Cover on-call, weekend, weekday, and holiday coverage as needed.
• Perform nuclear medicine procedures and quality control.
• Venipuncture and proper safety protocols in department.
• Calibrate and operate imaging equipment (SPECT etc.).
• Process and review images with Radiologist.

Position Purpose

Certified technologist to cover on-call, weekend coverage, weekday coverage and Holiday coverage for technologist on medical leave. Able to perform nuclear medicine procedures, quality control and venipuncture as needed by the department.

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.


• A baccalaureate degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology is desirable.


• Must be registered by one of the following registries: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).


• A registry eligible individual is assigned a somewhat lower status pending certification. Employee has 90 days in which to become registered.


• Must fulfill education requirements above.


• Prior experience in a busy hospital setting is highly desirable.


• Experience with SPECT is highly desirable.


• Experience with Nuclear Cardiology is highly desirable.

What The Nuclear Med Technologist Will Do

• Prepares diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.


• Administers radiopharmaceuticals to patients after explaining procedure and obtaining complete patient history.


• Physically assists patients in assuming required imaging positions to ensure that complete diagnostic studies are obtained.


• Calibrates and operates thyroid uptake systems, Geiger counters, dose calibrators and other departmental equipment.


• Calibrates and operates computerized imaging systems, including SPECT, to image, process, and photograph patient studies.


• Develops film and reviews them with Radiologist. Follows departmental safety policies, including infection control and radiation safety.
