Job summary

Trinity Health Oakland in Pontiac, MI is seeking a Coordinator, Nuclear Medicine to manage day-to-day operation of the Nuclear Medicine Department and provide leadership to the technologists. This role emphasizes safety, quality imaging, and collaboration with Administrative and Physician leadership.

The coordinator develops educational programs for Nuclear Medicine staff, provides supervision, and works with other departments to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program and registration with NMTCB or ARRT.
  • Associate’s degree in Nuclear Medicine required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience as a staff technologist in Nuclear Medicine or related imaging.
  • Two years NM experience preferred; three to five years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner and reports hazards.
  • Assist department management in interviewing, orienting, evaluating and counseling staff.
  • Oversee day-to-day patient care activities, ensuring adequate staffing and quality imaging procedures.
  • Schedule, plan and assign duties to staff; participate in staff meetings and ensure Radiation Safety Policy compliance.
  • Perform routine and complex diagnostic imaging procedures and monitor equipment.
  • Maintain inventory, recommend equipment purchases and supervise staff development.

Position Purpose

The Coordinator, Nuclear Medicine Clinical Operations & Team Lead Nuclear Medicine & PET-CT performs the duties of the Nuclear Medicine Technologist andis responsible forassistingwith the day-to-day operation of the Nuclear Medicine Department, locally or system-wide. This role works closely with Administrative and Physician leadership tomaintainefficient and effective operations, ensure quality, and promote change. Thecoordinatoralsoassistswith the development and maintenance of educational programs for the Nuclear Medicine staff, provides supervision and direction to the staff, and interacts and works collaboratively with other departments. Thecoordinatoris patient-focused,seekingto provide an excellent patient experience.

What You Will Do As a Nuclear Medicine Coordinator
  • Assumes responsibility forperformanceof job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practicesimmediatelyto management.
  • Assistdepartment management in interviewing, selecting, orienting, evaluating, training, and counseling Nuclear Medicine Technologists.
  • Oversee day-to-day patient care activities, ensuring adequate staffing and quality of diagnostic imaging procedures.
  • Schedule, plan, and assign duties to staff, participatein staff meetings, and ensure compliance with Radiation Safety Policy.
  • Perform routine and complex diagnostic imaging procedures, monitor equipment, and ensure proper treatment of patients.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, recommend equipment purchases, and ensure proper maintenance.
  • Instruct students and new staffmembers, serve as a resource to Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technologist program and registered as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Associate’s degree in applied science in Nuclear Medicine required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three or more years of experience as a staff technologist in specific imaging modality.
  • Two years’ NM experience preferred.
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience in a Radiology imaging modality preferred.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologists (CNMT).
  • Must maintain continuing education credits per biennium to retain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services.
  • NMTCB PET preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Certification or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
