Job summary

IHA in Grand Haven, MI is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to support diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in a day shift, part-time, per diem capacity. The role requires adherence to NRC standards and collaboration with radiologists and the care team.

Responsibilities include performing NM procedures, preparing radiopharmaceuticals, ensuring safety/compliance, conducting quality control, and educating patients about procedures while maintaining meticulous records.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved NMTCB program.
  • Must hold valid Nuclear Medicine license/certification (RT(N) or CNMT) and maintain registry per certifying body.
  • BCLS certification; CPR certification within three months of hire.
  • Preferred: experience with Meditech, Epic, and Sectra systems.

  • Explains procedures, preparation, and aftercare instructions to patients to ensure understanding and comfort.
  • Communicates exam-related information, as directed by the radiologist, to physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team.

Position Summary

Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and applicable regulatory standards to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Performs diagnostic Nuclear Medicine procedures and completes required quality control activities to ensure the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of imaging equipment. Provides patient-centered care while collaborating with radiologists, physicians, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to support high-quality clinical outcomes.

What The Nuclear Medicine Technologist Will Do
Clinical Nuclear Medicine Responsibilities
  • Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with established protocols and safety standards.
  • Prepares, measures, and administers prescribed radiopharmaceuticals
  • Operates Nuclear Medicine equipment safely and effectively.
  • Assists radiologists with invasive procedures as required.
  • Processes acquired image data and evaluates images for technical quality prior to physician interpretation.

Quality, Safety, and Compliance
  • Performs and documents required quality control procedures on gamma cameras, dose calibrators, uptake probes, and well counters.
  • Maintains accurate logs related to radiopharmaceutical receipt, storage, administration, disposal, shipments, and required wipe testing in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Adheres to departmental policies related to quality assurance, radiation safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and radiation-safe work environment, ensuring equipment and work areas are free from contamination.
  • May be required to perform electrocardiograms (EKGs) based on departmental needs.
What The Nuclear Medicine Technologist Will Need
  • Graduate of an approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology (NMTCB).
  • Must possess a valid current Nuclear Medicine license/certificate. This will be either an RT(N) registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or CNMT certification through the Society of Nuclear Medicine Technical Section Board examination. Must maintain registry status in compliance with the CE requirements of their certifying organization for the imaging modality in which they perform services.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Certification or re-certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within three months of hire.
  • Preferred: Experience working with Meditech, Epic, and Sectra systems
