MedStar Health is looking for a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team!
We are seeking a knowledgeable Nuclear Medicine Technologist who can effectively communicate with all customers and is familiar with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) policies on Confidentiality.
This is a skilled professional position that provides healthcare services, using radionuclides to assist diagnosis or treatment. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor, Chief Technologist, or the Director of M.I.

Primary Duties:
- Operates and documents all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. Verifies that the patient has consented to the procedure and fully understands its risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up. Ensures consent has been obtained. Immobilizes patients as required. Positions patient, respecting patient ability and comfort. Selects and operates imaging equipment and associated accessories. Monitors patient during procedure. Provides patient information pertinent to the exam being performed. Prepares patient for procedure. Assumes responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of patients. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification and image labeling. Initiates basic life support actions when necessary. Checks and orders supplies as needed. Participates in data collection.
- Reports equipment failure/problems. Assists in training and education. Provides input for the purchase of new equipment and participates in peer interviews for new hires or employees. Provides patient education. Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions. Accesses, manipulates, stores, and prints M.I. digital images. Accesses archived film from the film library. Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
- Maintains a clean, safe, and prepared work environment. Prepares room for procedures. Cleans and sterilizes equipment and procedure tables before and after each procedure.
- Maintains current knowledge, certification, and licensure. Identifies learning needs and initiates actions to address educational needs. Attends hospital-sponsored training programs. Completes all mandatory requirements, certifications, and licensure within the designated time. Works effectively within and between departments. Shares knowledge gained during interdepartmental participation.
- Ensures patient safety. Prepares, identifies, and administers contrast media and medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Assists licensed practitioners with nuclear medicine procedures as needed. Follows protocols to ensure optimum image quality.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an Allied Health Education Nuclear Medicine program or equivalent.
- 1-2 years' experience in a hospital setting.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) and/or CNMT Certification.
- Maryland Nuclear Medicine Technologist license.
- CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.
- Experience with RIS/PACS is preferred.
This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52 per hour.
