MedStar Health is looking for a licensed Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team!

We are seeking a knowledgeable Nuclear Medicine Technologist capable of effective communication with all customers and familiar with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) confidentiality policies.

This skilled professional position provides healthcare services using radionuclides to assist in diagnosis or treatment. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will perform nuclear medicine procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Work is performed under the general direction of the Supervisor, Chief Technologist, or the Director of M.I.

Primary Duties:

1. Operate and document all aspects of Nuclear Medicine. Verify patient consent, ensuring understanding of risks, benefits, and alternatives. Immobilize and position patients, select and operate imaging equipment, and monitor during procedures. Provide pertinent patient information and prepare patients for procedures. Evaluate image quality and ensure proper labeling. Initiate basic life support if needed. Manage supplies and participate in data collection.
2. Report equipment issues, assist in training and education, contribute to equipment purchase decisions, and participate in hiring processes. Provide patient education, observe universal precautions, and manage digital and archived images while applying radiation safety principles.
3. Maintain a clean, safe work environment. Prepare rooms and sterilize equipment before and after procedures.
4. Keep current with knowledge, certifications, and licensure. Attend mandatory training and complete required certifications timely. Collaborate effectively across departments and contribute to interdepartmental teams and committees.
5. Ensure patient safety by preparing, identifying, and administering contrast media or medications as prescribed. Assist licensed practitioners with procedures, following protocols to achieve optimal image quality.

Qualifications:

1. Graduate of an Allied Health Education Nuclear Medicine program or equivalent.
2. 1-2 years' hospital experience.
3. ARRT and/or CNMT Certification.
4. Maryland Nuclear Medicine Technologist license.
5. CPR certification.
6. Experience with RIS/PACS preferred.

This position has a hiring range of $34.98 - $62.52.
