Qualifications

Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

Under the Medical Director, performs technical procedures using radionuclides for diagnosis and treatment, with independence and judgment. May also serve as an instructor in specialized areas.

Prioritizes patient care and quality, performing examinations on patients of all ages.

Essential Functions:

  • Selects and operates equipment, calibrates devices, and assists with radioisotope assays.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as inputting exams and preparing requisitions.
  • Transfers and positions patients for imaging, ensuring safety and comfort.
  • Assists physicians with procedures, including radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration.
  • Practices sterile techniques and maintains cleanliness.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Licensure:

  • Associate degree in Radiology Technology or equivalent.
  • Texas Medical Board-MRT license required.
  • Current BCLS certification required.
  • ARRT or NMCT certification required.

Experience:

  • At least one year of full-time clinical Nuclear Medicine imaging experience, including didactic training.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of anatomy, positioning, and nuclear medicine techniques.
  • Knowledge of radiopharmaceutical storage, radiation safety, and blood testing techniques.
  • Ability to calculate and administer doses safely and aseptically.
  • Ability to analyze scans and tests.
  • Discretion and good judgment with patients.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lift over 100 pounds with assistance.
  • Knowledge of infection control policies.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
