Job summary

Veterans Health Administration in the United States seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist for the Nuclear Medicine Section. The incumbent will independently perform routine, non-routine, research and new radionuclide studies, including PET/CT, under the direction of an Nuclear Medicine Physician.

Responsibilities include radiopharmaceutical preparation and administration, quality control, and operation of imaging equipment, with emphasis on ALARA safety and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs a full range of routine radionuclide imaging studies by planar, tomographic (SPECT) and PET/CT techniques.
• Evaluates images and data and performs additional views as required.
• Calibrates and administers radiopharmaceuticals under an authorized user’s direction and performs quality control procedures.
• Operates imaging, laboratory, and computer instrumentation and adheres to ALARA radiation safety standards.
• Prepares, verifies and measures diagnostic radiopharmaceutical dosages and calculates isotope amounts.
• Provides patient care with an empathetic approach and assists with monitoring equipment and stress testing as needed.
