Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to assist physicians, prepare patients, and operate nuclear medicine equipment to obtain diagnostic scans. You will administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications, and provide therapy as ordered by the physician while ensuring quality care from pediatric to adult patients.

Required: ARRT/NMTCB nuclear medicine program, two years of modality experience, CNMT or RT(N) with a B.S./B.A.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program required.
  • Two years of modality-specific experience required.
  • CNMT (NMTCB) or RT(N) (ARRT) with a B.S./B.A. preferred; SCRQSA licensure required.
  • Current BLS required; ACLS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist physicians in diagnostic/therapeutic procedures by preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications to obtain diagnostic images; provide therapy as ordered.
  • Perform quality care for pediatric through adult patients with professional judgment and critical thinking.
  • Rotate through advanced modality skill sets as needed.

Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the nuclear medicine equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications to obtain diagnostic images and/or provides therapy as ordered by physician. Performs quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional and ethical judgment along with critical thinking in performing duties.

Additional Job Description

Education: Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program required. Work Experience: At least two years of modality specific experience required. Must be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from the NMTCB or Registered Technologist (RT (N)) from ARRT with a B.S. or B.A. preferred. Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association (SCRQSA) required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred. SKILL SETS: Fully competent in advanced modality skill sets and flexible to rotate.
