Job Description

The Nuclear Medicine/PET Technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the nuclear medicine equipment in order to obtain diagnostic scans. Administers radiopharmaceuticals and medications to obtain diagnostic images and/or provides therapy as ordered by physician. Performs quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional and ethical judgment along with critical thinking in performing duties.

Responsibilities
  • Assist physicians in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by preparing patients and operating nuclear medicine equipment.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and medications for diagnostic imaging and therapy.
  • Provide quality care to pediatric through adult patients using professional judgment and critical thinking.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an ARRT or NMTCB recognized Nuclear Medicine Program.
  • 0-2 years of Nuclear Medicine/PET experience required; 1 year preferred.
  • Licensure from the South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association required.
  • Must be a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) from NMTCB or Registered Technologist (RT(N)) from ARRT; registration eligible with a B.S. or B.A. preferred.
  • If registration eligible, must obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required (AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent; American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider).
