Job summary

BlueCore Energy seeks a Nuclear Mechanical Engineer to own components for the primary system and reactor internals, guiding from concept to fabrication. You will translate thermal-hydraulic needs into robust mechanical designs, size hardware, and develop NX CAD models with precise drawings.

You will also plan and execute test campaigns, qualify components to nuclear standards, and collaborate with vendors to ensure nuclear-grade fabrication and timely iterations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical or nuclear engineering.
• 3+ years of mechanical design experience from concept to fabrication.
• Hands-on CAD drawing generation with GD&T; familiarity with nuclear-grade hardware requirements.
• Experience planning hardware test campaigns and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design of primary system and reactor internals from concept through detailed design.
• Translate thermal-hydraulics analysis into component specifications, sizing, and design decisions.
• Build and maintain NX CAD models and generate drawings and specifications for fabrication, including GD&T call-outs.
• Plan and run experimental test campaigns to qualify designs, including test plans, procedures, and data acquisition.
• Qualify components to nuclear codes and standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section III.
• Engage with vendors for nuclear-grade fabrication and manage RFQ processes.
• Design for marine and radiological environments: vibration, shock, thermal cycling, corrosion, radiation, tight space.
• Drive root-cause investigations and iterate designs accordingly.
