Job summary

Antares, based in Torrance, CA, is developing microreactors for space and terrestrial use. We are seeking a Materials Engineer to join the team responsible for development and qualification of reactor materials, including ceramics and metallic alloys.

You will design and conduct material tests, analyze properties, interface with manufacturing and quality teams, and apply fundamentals of materials science to high‑tech manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in materials engineering.
  • Proficiency in optical and electron microscopy and mechanical property evaluation.
  • Go-getter attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Partake in development and qualification for all reactor materials.
  • Design and conduct physical, thermal, and mechanical testing of materials.
  • Employ statistical methods to evaluate effects of process variables and environmental effects on materials properties.
  • Materials characterization including root cause investigations of failure modes.
  • Interface with manufacturing, neutronics, mechanical, testing, and quality engineers to integrate materials into the overall system and optimize processes.
