Job summary

Antares in Torrance, CA, is seeking a Welding Engineer II to lead welding development and production for reactor components. You will own welding procedures, qualification plans, and collaborate across design, materials, manufacturing and suppliers to ensure weld quality and compliance with ASME and related standards.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in welding engineering, strong hands-on capabilities on high‑temperature materials, and a problem‑solving mindset to scale first‑of‑a‑kind reactor

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years welding engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of fusion welding processes and weld quality.
  • Ability to interpret drawings, weld symbols, and material specs.
  • Familiarity with destructive and nondestructive testing methods.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, qualify, and maintain welding procedures and welder qualifications.
  • Select welding processes, filler metals, joint designs and process parameters.
  • Provide design-for-welding guidance to improve manufacturability.
  • Support welded hardware from prototype to production and acceptance.
  • Collaborate with welders, technicians and suppliers to ensure repeatable fabrication.
  • Create work instructions, process controls, weld maps, and specs.
  • Develop weld qualification plans including destructive and nondestructive testing.
  • Review weld documentation and supplier records for compliance.
  • Lead root-cause investigations for weld defects and fabrication issues.
  • Develop repair/rework procedures and disposition of nonconformances.
  • Interface with design, materials, analysis, manufacturing, quality and test engineers.
  • Oversee welding suppliers and outside fabrication partners.
  • Promote safety, quality, documentation, and continuous improvement.
