Job summary

Antares is developing mass-producible, inherently safe microreactors for use on Earth, underwater, and in space. We seek a Materials Engineer to develop and qualify reactor materials, working with vendors and cross-functional teams to identify gaps in material behavior under operating conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Materials Engineering or related field.
• Experience in materials engineering (2+ years) and testing.
• Proficiency with optical/electron microscopy and mechanical property evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Partake in development and qualification for all reactor materials, including lifetime testing and cross-institutional collaboration.
• Design and conduct physical, thermal, and mechanical testing of materials to replicate reactor environment.
• Use statistical methods to evaluate effects of process variables on material properties.
• Perform materials characterization including root-cause investigations of failures.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, neutronics, mechanical, testing, and quality engineers to integrate materials into the system.
