Job summary

Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM seeks a First Line Manager for the PSD-4 group to lead engineers, scientists, and technicians in nuclear materials processing and mission support.

The role emphasizes strategic planning, budget oversight, and safety/compliance with DOE requirements, reporting to a Group Leader. Requires a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years related experience, with active DOE Q clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• Experience in managing people and/or projects, including planning, organizing, and resource management.
• Demonstrated experience creating work scope, schedules, budgets, coordinating work activities, and tracking progress.
• Demonstrated experience with financial stewardship and identifying resource requirements.
• Ability to supervise, negotiate, resolve conflicts, mentor and develop personnel.
• Experience communicating technical issues to diverse audiences and interfacing with multiple levels of personnel.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and define strategic objectives for the team.
• Set scope, schedule, budget, and ensure worker qualification and authorization.
• Deliver quality products and services while balancing productivity and quality.
• Maintain current administrative and operating procedures prior to release of work.
• Oversee safety, compliance, and radiological constraints in a nuclear facility environment.
• Direct daily oversight of work, workers, and work environment on the floor.
• Mentor and motivate peers; provide financial stewardship over budget and procurement.
• Communicate status, deliverables, and commitments to line management.
