Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX seeks a Spring 2027 Licensing Engineering Intern to support licensing, regulatory strategy, and safety-basis development for advanced reactor projects.

You will assist with regulatory analysis, prepare technical materials for DOE/NRC interactions, and help maintain traceability between design information and the project licensing basis. This hands-on internship offers exposure to risk-informed and performance-based licensing approaches.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering (or closely related field) completed or by December 2026.
• Strong technical writing and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to learn complex regulatory requirements and work in cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist with Licensing Basis & Methodology development for advanced reactor systems.
• Support regulatory documentation such as technical reports and licensing submittals.
• Perform NRC and DOE regulatory research and analyses.
• Help maintain traceability between design information and licensing basis.
• Assist in SSC classification and safety interface documentation.
• Support regulatory submissions (PSARs, FSARs, and amendments).
