Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX is seeking a Nuclear Analysis Engineer to drive reactor physics, neutronics modeling, and safety analyses for modular sodium‑cooled reactors. You will collaborate across fuel design, thermal-hydraulics, safety analysis, and licensing teams to support design decisions and regulatory engagements.

The role emphasizes high‑fidelity simulations, analysis of core performance and safety behavior, and rigorous documentation for internal reviews and licensing submittals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering or closely related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of reactor physics or neutronics analyses experience.
• Strong grounding in neutron transport, reactor physics, criticality, and nuclear engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Perform neutronics and reactor physics analyses for advanced reactor cores.
• Develop 3D reactor models using Monte Carlo tools (Serpent, MCNP, OpenMC, SCALE).
• Conduct deterministic reactor physics calculations and reduced-order models.
• Evaluate core criticality, neutron flux, power distributions, shutdown margins, and reactivity.
• Perform fuel depletion and fuel cycle analyses including burnup and isotopic evolution.
• Couple neutronics with thermal-hydraulics and other multiphysics tools.
• Assess Doppler, moderator, coolant, and void feedback effects.
• Calculate reactor kinetics parameters and activation analyses.
• Prepare technical reports and licensing submittals.
• Communicate methods, assumptions, uncertainties, and design implications clearly to stakeholders.
