Job summary

Dominion Energy’s North Anna Power Station is seeking a 2027 Mechanical Engineering summer intern to support the Nuclear Engineering Auxiliary Systems group on-site. The intern will provide technical support, repair recommendations, and design modifications to aid planned work activities and gain familiarity with nuclear plant design.

Responsibilities include assisting with troubleshooting, analyses of pump/valve/heat exchanger performance, and preparing engineering documentation.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering program at a four-year college or university.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA required.
• Anticipated graduation date of December 2028 or later.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations on component and system level.
• Offer repair recommendations and design modifications to support planned work activities.
• Develop and maintain Engineering documentation for projects.
• Assist with field inspections of components and systems within the power plant.
• Utilize MS Office tools for analysis and reporting.

Job Summary

Dominion Energy’s North Anna Power Station is seeking a 2027 Mechanical Engineering summer intern to serve as a member of the Station’s Nuclear Engineering Auxiliary Systems Engineering Group. The qualified candidate will work on site and provide technical support to Maintenance and Operations on a broad range of issues both on the component and system level. The intern will also provide repair recommendations, design modifications and Engineering documentation to support planned work activities. The candidate will be expected to gain familiarity with Nuclear Power Plant design. Activities include, but not limited to:

Providing proactive leadership in managing systems and components to ensure optimum, reliable, and cost effective system performance

• Supporting Operations and Maintenance in troubleshooting and resolving system and component issues
• Performing analyses and evaluations that support nuclear plant operation (eg pump, valve, heat exchanger performance)
• Developing/Supporting design modification packages to improve system/component performance
• Supporting field inspections of components and systems within the power plant.
• Good general computer skills including proficiency with using Microsoft Office products is desired.
• Must have a personal commitment to all aspects of workplace safety.
• Must be able to follow instructions and be a team player.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
• Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.

Education Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled as a student in an ABET accredited Mechanical Engineering program at a four-year college or university

Hourly Rate:

$23.00 - $29.00

The hourly rate listed is the rate we anticipate paying for this position. If a range is listed, the actual hourly rate offered may vary based on factors such as the selected candidate's degree type, academic major, and/or school classification (e.g., sophomore, junior, senior).
