Job summary

Dominion Energy is seeking a Nuclear Intern in Fleet Programs & Components within the Materials & Inspections group. Projects are assigned based on coursework and mentored by experienced engineers.

Candidates must be pursuing a 4-year ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering or related degree, with a Fall 2028–Fall 2029 graduation and a 3.0+ GPA. Proficiency in MS Excel and MATLAB, and familiarity with Microsoft Office are preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be a student pursuing a Bachelor's degree at a 4 year college or university.
• Must be majoring in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-Accredited), Materials Science and Engineering, Welding Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering.
• Must have a graduation date of Fall 2028 to Fall 2029.
• Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher.
• Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired. Proficiency in MS Excel is preferred.
• Knowledge of engineering software applications such as Matlab is preferred.

Job Summary

The Materials and Inspections group is part of the Fleet Programs and Components (FP&C) organization in the Nuclear Engineering and Fuel (NEF) department. The team has responsibility for the nuclear fleet (North Anna Power Station, Surry Power Station, Millstone Power Station, and VC Summer Power Station) for governance, oversight, support, and performance scope for the following technical programs Flow Accelerated Corrosion, Steam Generators, Reactor Vessel Internals, Reactor Vessel Integrity, Thermal Fatigue, Alloy 600, Boric Acid Corrosion Control, Welding, ASME Section XI, Repair/ Replacement, Materials Laboratory, and Underground Piping and Tank Integrity.

Project assignments will be made based on completed coursework. Tasks will be mentored by experienced engineers.

Experience with Microsoft Office products is desired. Proficiency in MS Excel is preferred.

Knowledge of engineering software applications such as Matlab is preferred.

An inquisitive nature, an ability to follow written and verbal directions, and strong professional ethics.

Solid engineering skills, commensurate with grade level.

Ability to maintain a professional orientation, communicate effectively in both written and oral forms, and work effectively in a team and independently under own initiative.
