Job summary

General Matter in Los Angeles is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern with an environmental focus to support critical infrastructure and environmental initiatives at our nuclear fuel cycle facility. You will assist in designing, analyzing, and evaluating civil infrastructure solutions that align with environmental regulations and nuclear safety standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (undergrad or grad).
• Strong engineering fundamentals and teamwork.
• Familiarity with civil design software like AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and nuclear safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing and evaluating stormwater management systems and foundation designs.
• Support compliance with NRC, EPA, DOE and state environmental regulations.
• Assist site assessments for soil stability, groundwater protection, flood mitigation, and seismic resilience.
• Help design and maintain waste handling and storage systems to minimize environmental impact.
• Collaborate with engineers to develop holistic civil/environmental solutions.
• Support project coordination, tracking schedules, budgets, and safety requirements.
• Develop mitigation plans for flooding, erosion, and environmental containment.
