General Matter is seeking a Nuclear Engineer (New Graduate) to join our regulatory-focused engineering team in the Los Angeles area. You will support licensing actions, regulatory submissions, and engagement with the NRC for a nuclear fuel cycle facility.

This entry-level role offers exposure to high-regulated facility work, with mentorship from senior engineers and opportunities to contribute to licensing strategy and compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
• Coursework in nuclear engineering fundamentals, reactor physics, or fuel cycle systems.
• Familiarity with NRC regulations, including 10 CFR and related industry standards (e.g., ANSI, ASME).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise technical documentation.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and collaboratively across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review licensing documents in line with NRC requirements.
• Communicate with regulatory agencies (NRC) and track inquiries.
• Develop strategies to obtain and maintain licenses for new and existing nuclear facilities and projects.
• Perform technical evaluations to ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., 10 CFR).
• Monitor changes to nuclear regulations and assess their impact on operations and licensing.
• Support safety analyses, environmental reports, and risk assessments.
• Work on documentation and technical writing to support licensing submissions and regulatory correspondence.
• Collaborate with engineering, operations, legal, and environmental teams to address licensing requirements.
• Participate in inspections, audits, and regulatory meetings.
• Communicate technical ideas within multidisciplinary project teams.
