Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring a Fire Protection Engineer for the Catawba Nuclear Plant in York, SC. The role includes serving as a subject matter expert on NFPA codes, providing field engineering support, and aiding in PRAs/NSCA development.

Occasional travel to other nuclear plants within the fleet may be required. The position requires collaboration with the Fire Protection team, preparation for inspections, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master of Science in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• At least 4–6 years of engineering experience (Senior/Engineer III levels).
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and handle complex technical tasks.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME on NFPA codes and fire protection programs, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Provide engineering field support to identify, analyze, and resolve issues in the fire protection program.
• Support Fire Protection team on PRAs and NSCAs and assist with NRC/Audits inspections.
