Job summary

X-energy LLC is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to design and develop fire protection systems for nuclear power plants. You will identify requirements, conceptualize architecture, and guide the layout through final design while ensuring compliance with NFPA codes, 10 CFR 50 Appendix R, and Regulatory Guide 1.189.

Lead analyses, oversee procurement, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver a fully functional system.

Qualifications

• Typically five years of experience in a mechanical engineering role for level III (may be substituted by advanced degrees or higher years).
• Master's or PhD may substitute for experience.
• Experience with design and operation of fire protection systems in nuclear projects.*

Responsibilities

• Execute core tasks with minimal supervision.
• Develop mechanical/physical system design concepts and support development of SSCs.
• Plan and structure analyses to ensure SSC performance and compliance with design basis and criteria.
• Provide independent reviews of engineering deliverables and interface with stakeholders.
• Oversee documentation to applicable requirements and standards, including NFPA codes and 10 CFR 50 Appendix R.
• Lead analyses and calculations for SSC performance and safety.
• Coordinate with procurement and support engineering for documentation and changes.
• Develop content for procurement of fire protection material and services.
• Review system engineering documents for fire protection impacts and compliance.
• Support safety culture and quality integration in fire protection processes.
