Job summary

HII's Mission Technologies division in Newport News seeks an entry-level Nuclear Engineer to support radiological controls for Navy carriers and submarines. You’ll engage in design, testing, monitoring, and emergency planning within a fast-paced team.

Zero years of experience is required with a BS in Nuclear Engineering or ABET-accredited program. US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance are mandatory. Growth opportunities exist within a leading defense tech team.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Nuclear Engineering or related field.
  • Zero years of relevant experience required for entry level.
  • Must be a US citizen eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and tests nuclear equipment and systems.
  • Conducts research on materials of interest in nuclear reactors.
  • Conducts studies related to detection and control of radiation and radioactive contaminants.
  • Studies nuclear fuel cycle to define economical uses and safe waste disposal.
  • Research includes radiation transport modeling, statistics, and performance metrics.
  • Recommends technology options for safety, performance, efficiency or costs.
  • Radiological Controls Engineering includes Reactor Servicing, Overhaul Maintenance, and Fleet Support groups.
