Job summary

Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC seeks an entry-level Nuclear Engineer I or II to join the Safety Analysis Models group. You will perform transient thermal-hydraulic simulations for PWR reactors using RETRAN-3D and VIPRE, and prepare technical reports.

The role involves collaboration with industry and regulators, development of analysis methods, and participation in licensing support. A BS in Engineering is required; MS is a plus; 0–4 years experience depending on level; relocation to the Charlotte

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (or MS in lieu)
  • 0–4 years engineering experience for level I/II
  • Familiarity with safety analysis methods and nuclear engineering concepts
  • Strong communication and collaboration with regulatory bodies and industry

Responsibilities

  • Perform transient thermal-hydraulic simulations for PWR reactors using RETRAN-3D and VIPRE.
  • Prepare thorough technical reports and documentation for analyses.
  • Develop, qualify, and maintain safety analysis codes used in safety evaluations.
  • Collaborate with Duke Energy, industry partners, and regulators on licensing and safety analyses
