Job summary

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking a Thermal Hydraulic Test Engineer to advance the state-of-the-art of test capabilities. This hands-on role involves instrumentation, test specification, data processing and analysis in high temperature and high-pressure environments.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team to design test sections and develop advanced diagnostic techniques, ensuring timely delivery to end users.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or science plus 2+ years of relevant experience, or Master's with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Experience with two-phase testing and diagnostic techniques preferred.
• Experience working in projects/teams with multiple stakeholders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Implement test instrumentation and apparatus in a high-temperature/high-pressure environment.
• Specify tests, process data, and analyze results to support test objectives.

Job Description

Would you like to be part of advancing the state-of-the-art of thermal hydraulic testing capabilities in the Naval Nuclear Program? Do you enjoy hands-on laboratory work that solve real-life complex engineering problems? Consider this highly rewarding position of a Thermal Hydraulic Test Engineer.

A successful candidate will be responsible for hands on work implementing test instrumentation and apparatus, specifying tests, processing data, and analyzing test results. The Thermal Hydraulic Test Engineer will also be responsible for working as a part of the team to develop test section design and advanced diagnostic techniques to be used in a high temperature and high-pressure environment. This includes significant collaboration with other groups to ensure successful execution of test and ensuring that testing meeting the technical and timing needs of end users.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related engineering or science field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience; Currently an Intermediate Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.

Preferred Skills

• Master's Degree or Ph. D. in Mechanical, Aerospace, or equivalent.
• Experience in two-phase testing.

Pay Range

$78,700.00 - $120,500.00 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
