Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory, located in Idaho Falls, ID, seeks an undergraduate intern to support the Process Modeling & Analysis team within the LWRS program. You will develop and test research software (Python) for uprate scenarios, collect and clean plant data, and perform analysis and visualization to support economic assessments.

The internship runs on a 9x80 schedule onsite at Idaho Falls campus, with start date and duration varying by project and student availability.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full time in an undergraduate degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• Programming experience in Python or a comparable language.
• Coursework or project experience with data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. (including CPT/OPT).
• Current resume or CV and unofficial transcripts.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and document research software (Python) for modeling and analyzing uprate and capacity expansion scenarios.
• Write and maintain automated tests to ensure reproducible results.
• Collect, organize, and clean plant data from public and industry sources.
• Perform data analysis and visualization to support technical and economic assessments.
• Contribute to technical documentation and summarize findings for the research team.
