Job summary

MAC Incorporated is seeking an Electrical / Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Design Engineer for a 100% onsite role in Columbia, AL. The position focuses on plant modifications, retrofits, and equipment upgrades at a nuclear power facility, with relocation offered.

The candidate develops engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules, while ensuring compliance with engineering standards and nuclear regulations. Nuclear experience preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree or PE license required.
• 3+ years of relevant engineering experience preferred.
• Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation & Controls background.
• Working knowledge of applicable engineering codes and standards.
• Nuclear power plant experience preferred.
• Knowledge of nuclear industry regulatory requirements preferred.
• Knowledge of BWR systems, structures, and components preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop electrical and/or Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) designs for plant modifications and upgrades.
• Prepare and update engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and design documentation.
• Develop project cost estimates and schedules for plant modifications.
• Perform field walkdowns to verify existing conditions and ensure design constructability.
• Provide technical oversight of engineering designs developed by outside Architect/Engineering firms.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Implementation Engineers, and plant personnel to ensure design requirements are met.
• Support installation and implementation of plant modifications.
• Provide engineering support during refueling outages, including troubleshooting and issue resolution.
• Support and oversee post-modification testing.
• Manage special engineering projects as assigned.
• Participate in on-call Duty Engineer and Emergency Plan response assignments.
