Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join the Nuclear team across multiple locations in the United States. You will contribute to design, analysis, and licensing activities for operating nuclear plants and new reactor projects, including SMRs and advanced reactors.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited BS in Electrical Engineering or related degree, or ABET-accredited BS in Electrical/related Engineering Technology with FE exam.
  • 3 years of electrical engineering experience; consulting preferred.
  • FE exam or EIT preferred; PE preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures; experience in nuclear plant electrical power design and related processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and/or lead electrical design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
  • Provide level-of-effort estimates for proposals and capability/qualification summaries.
  • Interface with clients to communicate progress, resolve comments, and provide site technical support.
  • Manage small project budgets and schedules for technical deliverables.
  • Modify and review production drawings for power plants, process facilities, industrial, commercial, governmental and military facilities.
  • Design electrical components per project needs and requirements.
  • Apply knowledge of electrical engineering concepts, codes and procedures.
  • Research and compile project data as required by project managers.
  • Update drawings using CAD software to verify corrections.
  • Prepare information for client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration.
  • Perform field inspections, measurements or calculations for clients.
