U.S. Fleet Forces Command seeks a Nuclear Deterrence Senior Advisor to join the FLT POLICY DIVISION in the Navy's premier authority on strategic deterrence.

You will guide policy development, coordinate readiness, and oversee incident response related to naval NW and reactor safety across CONUS and OCONUS environments. The role requires executive-level advisory experience, interagency collaboration with USSTRATCOM and the Joint Staff, and leadership of a diverse team responsible for

Qualifications

  • At least one year of specialized experience at GS-14 or equivalent.
  • Experience advising flag officers and senior leaders on nuclear weapons policy and deterrence.
  • Experience directing oversight of readiness and policy with joint/interagency partners.
  • Experience leading nuclear weapon surety programs and incident response procedures.
  • Experience representing a major command in national forums to influence policy.
  • Experience aligning fleet requirements into Navy POM for deterrence readiness.
  • Experience leading a team of senior officers and civilian personnel on national security programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise policy development and oversight of NW incident response task forces.
  • Coordinate annual Command Self-Assessment reviews and track nuclear issues.
  • Review directives on nuclear weapons mission, ordnance handling, and safety procedures.
  • Coordinate readiness requirements with Navy and Joint Commanders.
  • Lead on Nuclear Weapons Deterrent Mission Oversight and Policy.
  • Research and coordinate actions to maintain nuclear weapons reliability.
  • Lead issues affecting NW and reactor incident readiness for the MOC.
  • Establish procedures for nuclear incident responses and participate in exercises.
