Job summary

Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Nuclear Engineer to join the Brunswick and Oconee Nuclear Design (BOND) group. You will design and analyze fuel cycles for Brunswick Nuclear Plant and Oconee Nuclear Station, and support nuclear safety across six plants.

The role involves developing in-house codes, performing criticality safety reviews, interfacing with vendors, and providing technical support to Reactor Engineering.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited BS in Engineering required.
• MS in Engineering will be considered in lieu of BS.
• Nuclear power plant experience is a plus.
• Familiarity with neutronics codes and BWR analyses is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead/reload design teams to design fuel cycles.
• Develop and verify analyses for fuel cycle designs.
• Develop and maintain in-house codes for fuel cycle designs.
• Qualify vendor codes used in support of fuel cycle designs.
• Interface with fuel vendor for reload design and issue support.
• Perform owner acceptance reviews of vendor calculations.
• Interface with Reactor Engineering for technical support.
• Perform nuclear criticality safety reviews and analyses.
• Participate in technical training activities.
