Job summary

Nucor Steel Memphis, Inc. is seeking a Crane Maintenance Technician to safely maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade overhead and mobile cranes.

This role requires strong safety ownership and the ability to coordinate across departments to ensure maximum crane reliability while protecting teammates. Qualified candidates have multi-craft industrial electrical and mechanical experience, read mechanical prints and schematics, and can work weekends or overtime as needed.

• Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure crane reliability and safety.
• Support weekends/holidays/rotating shifts as needed.

Basic Job Functions

Nucor Steel Memphis is seeking a Crane Maintenance Technician who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. This role supports the coordination and execution of safely maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and upgrading all overhead and mobile cranes. This role will include constant coordination and building relationships between all departments, to ensure the highest reliability of our cranes with the highest regard for safety of all teammates. This teammate must have the ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and unscheduled overtime.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to uphold safety policies and procedures
• Industrial Electrical and Mechanical experience (multi‑craft)
• Ability to safely troubleshoot industrial systems
• Experience in heavy manufacturing, steel, or similar industrial environments
• Ability to read mechanical prints, electrical schematics, and OEM manuals
• Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around overhead cranes
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team‑centered environment
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or military experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior overhead crane maintenance background
• Experience in safe rigging practices
• Previous steel mill experience
• Welding/fabrication experience
• Experience with AC and DC Motors
• Experience with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) and automation equipment.
• Academic coursework in engineering, military, or technical school
