Job summary

Nucor in St. Louis, MO is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to keep plant assets safe and productive. You will perform scheduled PMs, troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues, and weld for repairs and fabrication.

Minimum one year industrial maintenance experience, basic machining knowledge, ability to read reports and blueprints, and the physical ability to lift heavy objects are required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a drug screen and

Qualifications

• One year industrial maintenance experience including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Basic knowledge of machining, welding, and equipment fabrication skills.
• Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools, general fabrication tools, and measuring devices such as tape measure, calipers, and ohm meters.
• Ability to read and interpret reports, work instructions, schematics and blueprints.
• Must be self-driven with the ability to work with little to no supervision.
• Must stand, squat, kneel, and climb stairs and/or ladders occasionally.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform all scheduled PMs for all plant equipment and production lines.
• Troubleshoot and correct all types of equipment issues, primarily mechanical and electrical.
• Perform other facility repairs as required.
• Regularly lift heavy objects (more than 50 lbs).
• Must weld for repairs and fabrication projects.
• Perform tasks identified and scheduled by Maintenance Lead and/or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Assist in creating, maintaining, and completing work orders through the work order system.
• Assist in tracking, organizing, and maintaining spare parts inventory and areas.

Basic Job Functions:

St. Louis Cold Drawn Maintenance Mechanics are responsible for the safest, most efficient, cost effective means of operation and maintenace of our assets.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Perform all scheduled PMs for all plant equipment and production lines
• Troubleshoot and correct all types of equipment issues, primarily mechanical and electrical

• Experience reading and interpreting schematics and process flow diagrams
• Experience with basic fabrication
• Experience in industrial maintenance of material handling systems
• Experience in welding techniques
• Experience in construction, commissioning, and start-up of industrial equipment
• Experience in operating mobile equipment (cranes, forklifts, manlifts, etc.)
• Extensive experience with hydraulic power units
