Job summary

Nucor Steel Berkeley is seeking a Cold Mill Mechanical Utility to support maintenance efforts in Huger, SC. Responsibilities include housekeeping, mechanical repairs, and preventative maintenance, with emphasis on safe operation and collaboration with the maintenance team.

The role offers training to become a mechanical technician, with rotating shifts and overtime including nights and weekends. Safety is emphasized in all duties and operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience in mechanical maintenance and troubleshooting in an industrial setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform general housekeeping and shop organization.
• Assist with mechanical maintenance on breakdown repairs.
• Work with mechanical maintenance during down days and outages.
• Perform preventative maintenance and support the Cold Mill with emphasis on mechanical equipment.
• Train and gain experience with the aim of becoming a mechanical technician.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.
• Uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Cold Mill Mechanical Utility includes but is not limited to, safely perform general housekeeping/shop organization, assist with mechanical maintenance on breakdown repairs, work with mechanical maintenance during down days and outages, perform preventative maintenance, and support the Cold Mill with an emphasis on mechanical equipment and issues in a demanding work environment. The purpose of this position is to provide an opportunity to train, learn and gain experience with the intention of becoming a mechanical technician. Must have the ability to work rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in an industrial or a similar career field Mechanical Maintenance and troubleshooting experience
