Nucor Steel West Virginia is seeking a Cold Roll Product Metallurgist to develop and implement practices that improve safety, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost performance in the cold rolling process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or related engineering discipline.
• Two years of flat rolled sheet experience.
• Knowledge of cold rolling and finishing processes.
• Experience with customer-facing technical support and product development.
• Familiarity with metallurgical testing methods and root cause analysis.
• Experience with quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Promote and support safety culture by demonstrating a commitment to safety.
• Review customer inquiries and product specifications to determine mill capability and feasibility.
• Lead and support customer and internal corrective action investigations and resolutions.
• Drive development, qualification, and continuous improvement of cold rolled steel products.
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Analyze production, quality, and process data to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Support metallurgical troubleshooting across rolling, annealing, temper rolling, and finishing processes.
• Assist in the development of process standards and quality control procedures.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

This role is responsible for developing and implementing practices that improve safety, product quality, operational efficiency, and cost performance throughout the cold rolling process. The successful candidate will work closely with customers, production teams, quality personnel, and commercial teams to ensure customer requirements are met while supporting the development and continuous improvement of cold rolled products.

Responsibilities:

• Promote and support Nucor's safety culture by demonstrating a commitment to the safety of self and others.
• Review customer inquiries and product specifications to determine mill capability and product feasibility.
• Lead and support customer and internal corrective action investigations and resolutions.
• Drive the development, qualification, and continuous improvement of cold rolled steel products.
• Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality requirements.
• Analyze production, quality, and process data to identify opportunities for improvement in safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
• Support metallurgical troubleshooting throughout the cold rolling, annealing, temper rolling, and finishing processes.
• Assist in the development of process standards and quality control procedures.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Nucor Steel West Virginia's is a new state-of-the-art sheet steel mill that will produce up to 3 million tons per year once fully operational. This advanced manufacturing facility is located in Mason County, along the Ohio River in close proximity to both Huntington and Charleston, WV.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• Two (2) years of flat rolled sheet experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of cold rolling, annealing, temper rolling, pickling, coating, or finishing processes.
• Experience in steel manufacturing, metallurgy, quality systems, or process engineering.
• Experience with customer-facing technical support and product development.
• Familiarity with metallurgical testing methods and root cause analysis.
• Experience utilizing quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
