Job summary

The Cold Mill Mechanical Utility role at Nucor Corporation in Huger, SC, seeks a hands-on technician-in-training to support mechanical maintenance, housekeeping and outage work on heavy equipment. You will work rotating shifts and overtime as needed to keep the mill running safely and efficiently.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience in an industrial setting, and a mindset for troubleshooting; welding or fabrication skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform general housekeeping/shop organization and assist with mechanical maintenance.

• Train and gain experience with the aim of becoming a mechanical technician; rotate shifts and overtime as needed.

Basic Job Functions:

The role of the Cold Mill Mechanical Utility includes but is not limited to, safely perform general housekeeping/shop organization, assist with mechanical maintenance on breakdown repairs, work with mechanical maintenance during down days and outages, perform preventative maintenance, and support the Cold Mill with an emphasis on mechanical equipment and issues in a demanding work environment. The purpose of this position is to provide an opportunity to train, learn and gain experience with the intention of becoming a mechanical technician. Must have the ability to work rotating shifts and scheduled and unscheduled overtime including nights, holidays and weekends.
