Job summary

Applied Materials in Santa Clara, California is seeking a Santa Clara-based New Product (NPI) instructor. This role combines technical instruction with expertise in NPI tool startup, classroom and hands-on training, and process development for new chambers and tools.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 4–7 years in semiconductor equipment training, and strong communication and project-management skills. Domestic and international travel up to 40% is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, education, or training with 4+ years semiconductor equipment experience or 6+ years without a bachelor's degree.
• Strong communication, presentation, problem solving, and teamwork skills are essential.
• Experience in education, performance-based training, or training/presentation delivery is desirable and required to attain instructional developer role within first year.
• Knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, or related certification is a plus.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 40%).

Responsibilities

• Conducts semiconductor equipment training needs assessment by collecting information from experts and stakeholders.
• Communicates with product groups to obtain current product information for course updates and manages multiple projects.
• Determines system utilization requirements by researching and testing systems.
• Develops and updates training materials, ISD-compliant course content, and student guides.
• Leads NPI training development projects and creates hardware training materials (PowerPoint/Word).
• Maintains safe training environments and provides troubleshooting and on-site support.
