Job summary

Central Plastics in Tracy, CA is seeking an NPI Project Engineer to lead new product introductions from concept to production, working on injection molding and thermoforming. You will develop plans, define requirements, support DFM, tooling, and process development, and monitor timelines, budgets, and risks.

You will prepare documents and reports and ensure compliance with quality, regulatory and customer requirements.

Qualifications

Role Description

The NPI (New Product Introduction) Project Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Tracy, CA. This role is responsible for leading new product introduction projects from concept through production, coordinating closely with engineering, tooling, production, quality, and customer teams. Day-to-day tasks include developing project plans, defining technical requirements, overseeing design for manufacturability, and supporting tooling and process development for injection molding and thermoforming. The NPI Project Engineer monitors project timelines, budgets, and risks, prepares documentation and reports, and ensures that new products meet quality, regulatory, and customer requirements. This role also involves collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders, facilitating effective communication, and driving continuous improvement in NPI processes.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess strong Project Engineering and Electrical Engineering skills to support technical design, process development, and manufacturing readiness.
• Candidates should possess Project Management and Project Planning skills to manage schedules, resources, risks, and cross-functional coordination.
• Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills to interact effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
• Relevant experience in plastics manufacturing, injection molding, thermoforming, or related production environments is beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
• Experience with NPI processes, CAD tools, manufacturing documentation, and quality systems (ISO or similar) is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work on-site and support shop-floor activities.
