Daikin Applied is seeking a talented and eager Manufacturing Engineer II. Under the direct supervision of the Design for Manufacturing Manager, this role will be responsible for New Product process support and improvements. Location: Faribault, MN

  • Required travel to other Daikin sites: Owatonna, Plymouth

What you will do:

  • Primary responsibilities will be for the imbedded, collaborative technical support of New Product Development teams
  • Collaborate on production capacity increases of current and future factory spaces
  • Provide manufacturing engineering expertise to support the management team, collaborate on process improvement, and contribute to continuous improvement/cost reduction efforts with minimal supervision or under the guidance of a senior Manufacturing Engineer
  • Perform time studies to identify potential process improvement, apply the theory of constraints to identify bottlenecks, and optimize work content for improved line flow
  • Analyze operational data to optimize equipment and workspace layout, following lean manufacturing principles & Utilizing the PDCA process to evaluate process changes for performance improvement recommendations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve manufacturability in new product development and create production process guidelines, measurement parameters, and cost estimates for both new and existing products
  • Collaborate on equipment/tool design for production processes and facilitate equipment procurement through quotes/bids
  • Support senior manufacturing engineers with capital investment projects and possibly manage small capital projects (including the creation of funding requests)
  • A ssist with the evaluation of hourly employee’s job skill knowledge (JSK) requirements
  • Become skilled in the use of tools in the lean toolbox (e.g., root cause analysis, PDCA, kaizen, 5S, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Industrial Technology, Industrial Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent technical, scientific or engineering degree
  • 3+ years of experience in New Product Introduction or related experience
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solidworks, AutoCAD 2D, MS Office and MS Project experience
  • Sheet metal fabrication and assembly using state-of-art manufacturing processes, including cellular manufacturing and Demand Flow Technology

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $72,000 - $117,000 in Minnesota . The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
