Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Process Development Engineer for Optical Assemblies in Rochester, NY. You will design and optimize fiber optic termination processes, develop standard work, and drive quality improvements across internal and contract manufacturing partners.

You will lead lean initiatives, establish process capability, and mentor technicians while coordinating with CapEx/OpEx decisions and MES integration for seamless production operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• 2–5 years in manufacturing process development, ideally in precision assembly or optics.
• Hands-on experience with optical connector termination, fiber handling, precision processes, and SPC.
• Lean, Six Sigma knowledge and continuous improvement fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize end-to-end optical connector manufacturing processes.
• Develop process flows, work instructions, and manufacturing specs for single- and multimode assemblies.
• Lead design-for-manufacture reviews to meet volume, yield, and cost goals.
• Drive PFMEA activities to identify risks and preventive controls.
• Create production documentation: process specs, control plans, WI, quality procedures.
• Train operators and technicians in termination methods and quality practices.
