Job summary

IPS Group US is seeking a seasoned New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer for HVAC Air Handling Units (AHU) in Minnesota. The role requires 7-10+ years of NPI experience with commercial HVAC equipment.

The engineer will lead cross-functional design efforts, coordinate with electrical/thermal design teams, and drive pilot builds, testing, and supplier evaluations to ensure on-time product launches and optimized BOM costs.

Qualifications

7-10+ years of NPI experience in commercial HVAC equipment.
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA, FMEA, standard work.
System design: component selection per regulatory requirements and target specs.
Collaborate with Electrical / Thermal Design teams during early-stage development.
Collaborate with CAE team for digital evaluation & optimisation of system.
Digital design: design and optimise sheet metal enclosures, structural frames, coil arrangements, and fan assemblies to minimise changes to value chain.
Serve as primary liaison between Design Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Facilities and Production Operations to hit launch timelines and BOM costs.
Coordinate and lead testing, validation, and communication with test agencies.
Lead phase-gate reviews, prototype builds, and pilot runs for new AHU configurations; validate process capabilities, cycle times, and line balances.
Partner with supply chain teams to evaluate supplier capabilities for fans, coils, dampers, VFDs, and controls; support PPAP.
Ensure compliance with UL 60335-2-40 : 2025, ASHRAE requirements.
