Job Title: New Product Introduction (NPI) Engineer - HVAC Air Handling Units (AHU)
Experience: 7-10+ years of NPI of commercial HVAC equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-on experience with DFM/DFA, FMEA, standard work
- System Design : Component selection based on regulatory requirements and target product specifications.
- Collaborate Electrical / Thermal Design teams during early-stage development.
- Collaborate with CAE team for digital evaluation & Optimisation of system.
- Digital Design : Design & Optimize sheet metal enclosures, structural frames, coil arrangements, and fan assemblies for ensuring minimal change to existing value chain ecosystem.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between Design Engineering, Sourcing, Quality, Facilities, and Production Operations to hit product launch timelines and target BOM costs.
- Testing & Validation : Coordinate and get units ready for testing and coordinate and lead communication with test agency.
- Pilot Builds : Lead phase-gate reviews, prototype builds, and pilot runs for new AHU configurations. Validate process capabilities, cycle times, and line balances.
- Supply Chain & Supplier Quality: Partner with supply chain teams to evaluate supplier capabilities for specialized components (fans, coils, dampers, VFDs, and controls). Support PPAP.
- Regulatory & Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with UL 60335-2-40 : 2025, ASHRAE requirements.
Technical Skills:
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication (CNC punching, laser cutting, press brake forming) and structural welding.
- Understanding of air handler sub-assemblies (coils, DX systems, chilled water loops, EC/plug fans, filter racks).
- Understanding of Sensors and adequate use
- Familiarity with electrical panel wiring and low/high-voltage testing.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
