Job summary

Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS), a division of Amphenol Corporation, is seeking an NPI Automation Engineer to join the Cable Backplane Systems engineering team in Valley Green, PA. You will collaborate with NPI engineers to integrate automation into new product builds and review designs for automation opportunities.

You will lead input on fixture design, participate in design reviews for manufacturability, and support installation, commissioning, and validation across international sites

Qualifications

• 2+ years in manufacturing engineering or 5+ years with similar experience.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
• Experience with robotics systems (FANUC, ABB, UR) and robot integration.
• Familiarity with HMI/SCADA and industrial communication protocols.
• Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, sensors, actuators.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, control diagrams.
• Experience with vision systems and barcode readers is a plus.
• Willing to travel globally and spend 50%+ of time deploying automation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with NPI engineering teams to integrate automation into new product builds.
• Review product designs to identify automation opportunities and constraints.
• Provide input on fixture design, part orientation, and material handling for automation compatibility.
• Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and scalability of automation solutions.
• Support installation, commissioning, and validation of automation systems at international sites.
• Train global teams on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Assist in scaling automation solutions from pilot to full production globally.
• Support upgrades and retrofits of automation systems to improve performance and reliability.
