Job summary

Sterling St James LLC in Richmond, VA is seeking a New Product Development / Design to Value (NPD/DTV) Engineer to lead refrigerated merchandiser concepts and drive cost reductions across existing product lines.

You will apply value engineering, develop CAD models, run simulations, and coordinate with Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing, Product Management, and the lab to validate solutions from concept to field tests. MS Mechanical Engineering and Lean/Six Sigma experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering.
• 1–3 years of experience in design of industrial products.
• Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, dehumidifier, sealed-system, airflow thermal management, or similar design theory and application.
• Experience in practical application of Six Sigma and Lean tools.
• MS Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Apply value engineering methodologies to optimize cost position on existing products.
• Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering to implement cost saving projects.
• Manage the DTV project from concept to completion, including scheduling and cross functional communication
• Brainstorm new and innovative solutions to achieve the product standardization and modularity.
• Develop CAD solid models and engineering simulation of proposed concepts.
• Collaborate with Product Management to validate the solution with the customer.
• Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate the solution.
• Conduct field tests to validate the solution.
