Job summary

Dover Food Retail is seeking a New Product Development / Design to Value Engineer to lead development of refrigerated merchandisers and drive cost-reduction initiatives across existing lines. Based onsite in South Chesterfield, VA, you will apply value engineering to optimize product cost while collaborating with Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering.

You will develop CAD models, run simulations, validate solutions with customers, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required.
• 1–3 years of experience in design of industrial products.
• Six Sigma and Lean tools experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Apply value engineering methodologies to optimize cost position on existing products.
• Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing and Manufacturing Engineering to implement cost saving projects.
• Manage the DTV project from concept to completion, including scheduling and cross functional communication.
• Brainstorm new and innovative solutions to achieve product standardization and modularity.
• Develop CAD solid models and engineering simulation of proposed concepts.
• Collaborate with Product Management to validate the solution with the customer.
• Develop a test plan and work with the Engineering Lab to validate the solution.
• Conduct field tests to validate the solution.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, demonstrates capability to solve difficult and complex problems.

What are the basic qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering
• 1-3 years of experience in design of industrial products

What are the preferred qualifications

• Experience with product design and solid modeling in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in refrigeration, air conditioning, dehumidifier, sealed-system, airflow thermal management, or similar, design theory and application
• Experience in practical application of Six Sigma and Lean tools
• MS Mechanical Engineering
