Job Summary

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is a seeking a full-timeexempt NP Nurse Supervisor for the New Orleans Inpatient Services Program. Theschedule for this position is Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, with flexibility that mayrequire evenings and weekends to ensure proper coverage.

The NP Nurse Supervisor is responsible for leading themedical team in the Inpatient Services treatment program in alignment withpolicies, procedures, and approved workflows by Senior leadership. The NP NurseSupervisor provides high-quality Client-focused health care services that meetthe assessed and individually planned needs of all clients in the InpatientServices treatment program.

Responsibilities and Duties

• assume aleadership role in the agency;
• supervise, orientate, and assistall medical staff in the delivery of patient care;
• Conduct H&Ps, discharges, extensionsand intake assessments for inpatient clients;
• schedule all medical shiftsensuring that all shifts are covered, and if needed work any open shifts;
• review nurse’s timecard activityfor accuracy and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures;
• conduct nursing meetings andensure proper documentation stored in SharePoint;
• oversee medical mattersincluding but not limited to medical documentation, and reporting of abuse andneglect;
• ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy Rules;
• participate in weekly One on One meetings and monthly in-services;
• work collaboratively withother departments including but not limited to Human Resources, and Complianceand Quality Assurance;
• participate in clinicaldiscussions with Inpatient Bohn Management;
• assist in maintaining theclient census and timely movement of clients through the treatment program;
• complete incident reports andensure nurses are completing Incident Reports per agency policy, ensure allIncident Reports are submitted to Program Manager and Director promptly;
• safely administer medications asordered using the five rights and utilizing a MAR;
• ensure a narcotic pill count isconducted at the beginning and end of each shift and management of stockmedicines;
• manage patient pharmacy orders bytimely processing PAs, by fax or verbal order, ensure their arrival and logthem onto patient’s MAR;
• manage theMAR daily, weekly, and monthly as needed
• ensure thesecurity of narcotics, keys, and all other medications;
• participate in medication andmedical supply inventory control;
• manage the medicationrefrigerator;
• oversee pharmacy coordination asneeded, including but not limited to Pharmerica, MHSD, Avita, St. VincentDePaul’s, and local community pharmacies;
• monitor prescribed medication consumption andtreatments;
• coordinate the management of patient’s medication stock, includingpharmacy pick-up and drop-off of meds, calling in refills for clients, andupkeep of how medication is stored;
• educate clients on prescribedmedication tapers;
• ensure communication of medication procedures to discharged clients andscan discharged clients acknowledgement receipts of medications;
• ensure psych ed groups occur asscheduled with approved curriculum;
• encourage clients’ participationby empowering them;
• be flexible when taking care ofclients in need;
• always maintain professionalismwith staff members and clients;
• complete an accurate census andcount all clients daily;
• complete triage on patient at timeof admission and transcribe it to relevant paperwork for MDT;
• attend weekly treatment teammeetings and raise any concerns to the Counselors regarding clients, listen toconcerns from the Counselors and assist if it is a medical issue;
• ensure coordination with FQHCoccurring in a timely manner;
• follow treatment care plans set forth by themedical staff;
• coordinate/facilitatepatient care, work collaboratively and maintain communication with patient careteam (providers, counselors, etc.) to provide effective, timely, andappropriate patient management;
• provideon-going assessment of acute medical/nursing needs of all residents and refer residentsto appropriate treatment centers;
• coordinate shift change with nightstaff and Medical Staff Daily Inquiries review;
• check-in with the Front Desk regardingif any clients went to ER after hours and obtain medical feedback sheet and anypertinent labs and notes for the visit;
• ensure compliance with regulatorybodies including but not limited to CARF, LDH, ASAM;
• Participate in mandatory inpatientmanagement meetings;
• perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• BSN or equivalent
• Active and valid NP licensure
• Active and valid RN licensure
• Current CPR certification
• Electronic Health Record experience
• Clinical competence in assigned area
• Ability to work independently
• Excellent interpersonal, communication,organizational, time management, and negotiation skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous principles
• Knowledge of ASAM criteria
• Supervisory experience
• Substance Use Disorder Treatment experience
